I can’t watch the World Cup because…

1) I don’t have a television.

2) My friends don’t have televisions too.

3) Even if I do have one, I still have a big final exam stretching throughout the better half of this month.

4) And I couldn’t ask my family to record the whole show, as our vcr has broken down some centuries ago and a recordable dvd player would cost a small fortune. And apparently vcr is another machine of the past. Hehe.

Have fun everyone, and spare a thought or two for me when you’re busy cheering for Brazil and Germany and Italy or screaming boos for France (Hehe French fans are going to kill me), and aah… don’t forget Ukraine’s in this time (Soviet spirit. LOL)!

Probably our last meal before 'going on strike' =p

Four Malaysians lost in translation =)

I have World Cup fever!!!

Which, in my case, translates to having a fever at the beginning of the World Cup. Still feeling a bit high on vertigo

assalamualaikum
So sorry that you had to miss the game. Hehe, I was never a fan of football or af for that matter. Almost everyone in Malaysia is complaining about how it's not fair that af show time had to be shifted in order to accomodate world cup. huhu. I couldn't care less coz I am not a fan of both shows. Hehe, just wanted to let you know that
Have fun studying. Remember, you are in control when you are in the exam hall so good luck!

Tenkostar- iFos's partner in football crime!

I miss the good old days of vcr! Seems like we're rooting for the same teams :) Someone said the world cup is just an exercise to get the second position after brazil.

Those people look supremely happy for someone(s) who are lost in translation.

Salaam..

Awww.. so sorry you can't watch the WC. I'm watching every game if I can.

Good luck, ifos!

pycnogenol said...

Can you, Ayumi? I thought you're having your exams too.

GOOD LUCK to both you and iFos. Better to be qualified doctors than football supporters!! No? ;)

Pycno- parenting a daughter nowadays has one more headache added i.e. football!

Pycno - Heheee.. Yes, I can. The exam has so many gaps, I'm actually quite free to watch football :) 7 more papers to go!!

I only watched Germany-Costarica opening match ending 4-2. Superb match. Should have recorded it for my niece but didn`t. Was hearing pleas for someone to record it but i still didn`t neither will P5. Surely I can find a way to record the matches but I didn`t. Not because I take pleasure in frustrating people( actually there is quite a bit of that in my blood) but the real reason is I need to train myself to be the father of 2 or possibly 3 daughters. I`ve been hearing please this please that since their birth and the voices gets louder and louder and now as they grow bigger, their please start taking a silent creepy mode and I`m losing ground both ways. They are perfecting their skills attacking from different angles and I`d be crushed one day if I don`t fortify my defences. I need to be more observant and see what I can learn.

That's a good one boogey. I must admit that I've not been doing too well handling the "puhleez' from my only daughter.
Have to fortify my defences too. Thanks.

Boogey weii! Doh lama koi tak dengor awok beri komen bernas (read: komen putor alam awok) awok. Rupernya awok sibok jage malam nnengok bola yek?

Pycno- Awok jangan senang termakan kata-kata Boogey yang putor belit macam ulor sawe tuh! Tak pase kang anok dara sorang awok tu kempunan tak sampai hajjat nok ni nok tuh! Anok dara awok tu tok minat bola ke?

ifos said...

But Boogey.... I'm NOT your daughter...!! Different rules apply for nieces, obviously... PLEASSSEEEEE.....?????!!! I'll even return the favour!! hehe *see betapa desperatenya saya*

dith said...

Uh oh!!! Fi, are you sure you're in for this?? You never know what kind of things he'll ask you to do in return!! Knowing him, I am sure it's going to be something 'cruel'! Like becoming a life-long slave to him!!

Hahaha. I`m enjoying this with a payau smile. Seeing the mother cautioning her daughter and advising some words of wisdom which reminds me of 2 things. Lagu Beatles and Athena. Athena is the goddess of wisdom in Greek mythology. She is also the goddess of military strategy. See how the three comes together? Feminism, wisdom and strategy? So, first you have a daughter who just aimlessly say please this please that with puppy looks and all, then the daughter gets wiser and give reasoning and promises and then the mother checks on my fortification and whispers the possibility of flanking from boogey. Banyak Shinobi, banyak ninja, banyak Kensai, banyak naringata, banyak samurai. Fenin fenin. So Pycno, now I`m beginning to understand why the old folks say it`s difficult raising a daughter. I have 2 daughters and a 3rd reinforcement is approaching the border. Hahaha..with a payau smile again. Ifos, try P5 or Khin, they are still naive.

Boogey-woogey

This is simple mothering. A natural instict by a mother protecting her child. Has got nothing to do with Greek Mythology.

*shakes head at Boogey. Eyes Ya and Lily with great pity*

Haha. Ok, last 3 comments by drroza and boogey really had me rolling on the floor scoffing my heart out. Besides those three, I must say I can't really relate to what is being said here. Not really a big fan of lelaki2 bega yg bermain bebola-bebola yang ditendang-tendang untuk mendapat sorakan padu dari pasukan sorak dunia. Lol. Ok tu dah start merapu. But yes, I'm NOT a fan of footballs and soccers. Although I enjoy watching my dad and bro acting like silly little boys over a game of bebolas. Ngahahha. Miss you sofi! =)

Ps: I got something very very belated for your very very belated birthday. Tp tak send2 lagi. Sorry! Very busy b4 coz baru je abes exam. alasan2. Cya. ;)

boogey, you may have overlooked that i spent a good deal of my growing up with sarah and ifos. ahahaha... i've gone thru the "please this and please that" years ago.. and my defenses were intact those days - my lack of finances could have contributed tho.

so will i go thru the trouble of recording the games for ifos? first, let us examine the essence of perestroika, glasnost and adam smith capitalism - What's in it for me? if that question can be answered to my satisfaction, then it passes the first phase -> to be considered for consideration.

while ifos has a bit of advantage for sharing similar name as daddy's lil girl, it is still not sufficient to influence my decision or to be exact, bring down my defenses. so ifos has to pursue a different strategy and apply different method to plead her case.

however, boogey has correctly pointed out that we men have to be aware of the clever deception of women. therefore, i shall increase all effort to fortify my defenses against such attacks as the number of women in my family has increased by one hundred percent!

so my dear darling ifos, go back to your books! tee hee hee... you can still attempt tho, but i'll be keeping virgil. :)

Hahaha, some people are having fun with this whole INEEDTOWATCHTHEWORLDCUP thing. :P I was mostly under the "don't know don't care" category, but I have watched teeny parts of some matches whenever I happen to catch it on rtm1, but ... that's about it. Maxis is kind enough to give free daily SMS results anyway, so I won't appear entirely ignorant... ^^;

The Malaysians in your picture look so happy. :D

ok, I see that my rayuan telah ditolak mentah2... takpe2... tahu laa cane nk buli daniel, emir n co. nanti. ngehngehs... the malaysians pic- those are my classmates. some of us decided to wear something Malaysian for our last lecture the other day. We received quite a number of stares from passers-by =p

Ahahaha. :)

First it's perfecting the puppy-dog look and sugary-sweet tone of voice for the parental units. Then it's tweaking the same charm to be used on the husband. Ngeh ngeh ngeh. Problem is that all units know me too well to fall for any underhanded tactics that I just end up asking politely instead. :D

BTW I am not watching the World Cup sebab:
1) Kuasa
2) Kena ke?
3) Malas
4) More interesting things to do.

This might change as we get nearer to the final though. :)
